It appears Trent Reznor has a new Nine Inch Nails album, Year Zero, set for release in April. Two years between NIN albums is unheard of, positively prolific for Trent.
More interestingly, he's indulging in some of the most well-crafted viral marketing I've seen to promote it. There's a forum post here explaining the whole thing.
The short version: The URL for a website was hidden in a recent NIN shirt. That website leads you into an interconnected series of sites setting up this elaborate plotline (it's apparantly a concept album.)
Now, it appears he intentionally leaked a new song from the album this week. Funnily enough, he leaked it by putting it on a thumbdrive and leaving it in the bathrooms at two of his gigs. (It's definitely legit, I've heard it and there's no mistaking it for anything other than a NIN song.)
Wow, a new record from Skinny Puppy and NIN in the same year? Who'd have thunk?
