I was going through some of my old bookmarks, and came across one for Litany, a news site for Skinny Puppy and related side projects, and came across a couple cool things.
First, I had no idea that Skinny Puppy were even working on a new album (I kinda expected 2004's The Greater Wrong Of The Right and it's tour to be a one-shot thing) but it turns out they are. More than that, it's pretty much done, it's called Mythmaker, and it's currently scheduled for release on January 29th! Insiders who have heard call it a “return to form” for them. Woo hoo!
Second, someone (with apparently too much time on their hands re-made the video for Worlock.
The original was spliced together entirely from footage from various horror and sci-fi films, mostly using footage that had been cut from the actual films due to being too extreme to keep the films rated R.
Due to the copyright issues involved, the mound of paperwork that would be required to ever get the original properly released has prevented it from ever being formally distributed. Only mostly low-quality, grainy bootleg VHS dubs can be found, and since a lot of the footage the original video was cut from was equally low-quality, the versions you can find on the int0rweb are pretty shitty.
Now that most (if not all) of the movies have been released on DVD, including much of that cut footage, someone went out and re-created the entire video using DVD rips. Scene-for-scene. No small task, given the hundreds of clips that are used!
You can view/download it here if you want to see it, but it's definitely not for the squeamish. It's one of my favorite SP songs ever, but the video is a bit… gruesome.
