A Second Try At Hibernation

Well, I had planned on having a bit of hibernation last night, but it was not to be. I usually go out after work every Friday and meet some friends at a local bar, but I got off work early this week and decided to instead go home and relax for an evening of doing nothing. Come about 6:30 last night, I had my pajamas on, had just made a nice cup of tea, and was ready to kick back and read this month’s National Geographic. Then, the phone rang. It was my boss, and one of the projects I work on had a last minute emergency and needed me to go back to work and make a quick change to a file. Grr. So much for my relaxing evening.

So, I’m going to make a second attempt at it today. Today is going to be a day for staying at home and relaxing. I’ve put on my rattiest, loosest (but oh-so-comfortable) clothing, I didn’t even bother shaving today (which is rare,) it’s full-on lazy slob mode for a day. :-) I did take a shower though, as I’m pretty much completely incapable of going a day without showering (unless I’m really, really sick.) Memo to future girlfriends/wife: That’s how you can tell if I’m really sick. If I don’t shower that day, I’m feeling like I’m on my death bed. Call the coroner. Further memo to the future Mrs. Coleman: I can also be a surly bastard when I’m that sick, don’t take it personal if I bark at you when you try to help me. I hate relying on other people and I hate needing help, I want to do everything for myself. So, when I’m in a position where I have to rely on another, I’m feeling particularly uncomfortable and vulnerable. Kinda like a cornered dog. So, sorry. ;-)

But I digress…

I really have a lot I need to do today. I need to go to the bank to deposit my paycheck, I haven’t made my weekly pilgrimage to the comic book shop, I’m overdue for a trip to the grocery store, but these things all can wait. Instead, I’m going to do some reading. Play Civilization IV and Counter-Strike:Source for a while. I’ve got a bunch of Hayao Miyazaki films on DVR that I recorded (Turner Classic Movies has been having a Miyazaki festival every Thursday for the last month or so) and really want to watch. Especially My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind. Good times.

I wonder what will interrupt my hibernation today?
