Okay, Last Post For A While

This should be my last post until at least next Tuesday, presuming I don't get a bug to post something tomorrow morning before I leave. I'll be traveling all of tomorrow morning, after which I'll be at the retreat center until Sunday afternoon. There are no phones, no computers, no televisions, not even cell phone … [Read more…]

Checking My Horoscopes

Not that I've started buying into this stuff too much, but both the horoscopes I read for the coming week were interesting nonetheless… The first mostly says that I'm due to “become infused with [an] abundance of physical energy and ambition.” Which is interesting, but it mentions in passing that “Virgos born in mid-September” of … [Read more…]

Oh, Yeah, One More Thing…

I'm actually getting paid to sit here and make music today! How cool is that? Sure, it's cheesy pseudo-trance nonsense and fairly loop-based, but it's making music nonetheless. It's for a promotional movie/animation that we're working on for a client, so I'm putting together a custom music bed to match the ebbs and flows of … [Read more…]

I Heart Valve Software

You'll have to indulge me in one last bit of game geekery before I leave, because Valve Software made a couple of big announcements this week! First and foremost, they finally unveiled the long-delayed Team Fortress 2. This game has been in development so long, many wondered if it would ever see the light of … [Read more…]

Letting Go Of Expectations

I've really been working hard at doing a better job of letting go of my expectations and being better on just letting things happen (and enjoying them as they do.) It's been a tough job for me as I'm definitely someone who tends to over-analyze things. Any time I'm going into a new situation where … [Read more…]

The Six Month List

As promised in my previous post from earlier today, I sat down and thought about my “six month list.” The (realistic) list of things I would do if I knew I had only six months to live. So here it goes… Visit Tibet. I've had a hiking tour of Tibet on my list of dream … [Read more…]

In The End

I spent some time thinking about death the other day. Not because I have any desire to die or anything, I'm well past that stage, but just because I was curious about how I would deal with it. Would I want to know it was coming? Would I rather know nothing and have it be … [Read more…]

Music Software Geekery

With the Summer NAMM expo opening tomorrow, this should hopefully be a busy weekend for music gear related announcements. One thing for certain, Ableton is having a press conference tomorrow, where they'll be unveiling Live 6. The only new feature they've talked about so far is heavy optimization of the software to help reduce it's … [Read more…]

How I Got Into Buddhism

So, I was chatting with my new friend Julie this evening, and the subject of how I got into Buddhism was brought up, and it's a somewhat amusing story, so I figured I'd share it… Anyone who knows me (really knows me) knows I have issues with depression, obsessive-compulsive, attention deficit, et al. I'm a … [Read more…]

Stupid iPod Tricks

I just noticed today that if you unplug the headphones from an iPod (the newest models at least) while it's playing, it detects that and automatically pauses itself. How cool is that? Clever, those Apple engineers.

Dreams Are Free

Dreams are such a wonderful thing. You can do anything, be anything, go anywhere, and it doesn't cost a thing. I can dream of something as outrageous as seeing commercial spaceflight become affordable enough in my lifetime that I may one day walk on the moon, or even Mars. Or something as simple as hiking … [Read more…]

Well, I Tried…

I had sworn to get a new DJ mix recorded at some point over the long holiday weekend, and I gave it a shot this afternoon. But, alas, it seems it was not meant to be. First, the plug kept falling out of the wall socket. This is a common thing in my apartment, where … [Read more…]

Weight Loss Update

Things are dead at work this week, so I'm off today (and likely will only be working part time until July, when the company's new fiscal year begins) and decided to get out and finally buy myself some new clothes. This trip was focused on the casual stuff, comfortable summer clothes (mostly to prepare for … [Read more…]

Horse Wine

Isn't it funny how sometimes the strangest things can trigger memories? I'm fascinated by the way our brains can connect the dots between two seemingly dissimilar things. Like how trying to pick out a bottle of wine can remind me of connecting on a deep level for the first time with a close friend. I … [Read more…]
