I was doing a little research on Anne Waldman, the woman who is hosting/teaching the retreat I’m attending, and I had no idea what I’ve gotten myself into! She was a huge part of the beat poetry scene in NYC back in the 60’s and was close with people like Allen Ginsberg and William S. Burroughs (was quite close friends with Ginsberg even.) I also read a little bit of her work online, and it’s quite, quite good. I’ve ordered a couple of her books (which were on the recommended reading list for the retreat) and now I can’t wait to read them!
Wow. Now I’m really looking forward to this. I’m really liking how the pieces are starting to fall together for July. Here’s hoping they continue to fall so serendipitously, especially for the rest of that weekend…
