I’m typing this from my hotel room in wonderful San Jose, California. I’m here for work, though I haven’t done any actual work yet (not complaining.)
I had a layover in Denver on the way from Cleveland to San Jose, where I (coincidentally) ended up on the same flight from Denver to San Jose as my co-worker from Denver who was also going to the meeting. We’ve never met, but knew I was directly in the seat behind her, so it was easy enough to find each other. It’s funny, waiting in line to board the plane I turned around and made eye contact with this woman and was instantly blown away. One of those women that really carry themselves in their eyes, and I could see this was someone with a deep and beautiful soul. A few minutes later, I saw this same woman walking down the aisle looking in the general area of the row and thought to myself “please let this be her, please let this be her” and it was. :) She’s been very cool so far, my first impression seems to have been dead on. Why is it I can never meet these super-cool women in Cleveland? Why, when I meet them, are they always from far, far away?
Anyway, moving on from that particular digression…
We spent the afternoon doing the winery tour. The client was cool enough to pack us a little lunch, so we had lunch at the first winery, David Bruce. Went from there to the Byington winery, both of these were up in the Santa Cruz mountains. Amazingly beautiful. I really, really don’t want to go home now. Should have moved out here back in the summer when I originally planned on it. After that, the client had us over to his house for dinner, excellent food. We were supposed to go out trick-or-treating with him and his wife and kids but we were really tired at that point from a day of great wine and great food that it was off to the hotel for some rest and relaxation.
Tomorrow, we actually have to do some work. Then more fun in San Jose with the client. We’re hoping to get everything done tomorrow so we can spend Wednesday doing more fun stuff instead of working. Then it’s back to Cleveland. Assuming I come home, I may just stay here in California.
Yeah. I’ll be back in Cleveland Wednesday night. :(
A few pics of the wineries can be seen on my Flickr account as well as a pic of Rick (the client) and Melissa (the aforementioned cool chick.) Good Times.
