Journal Entries From Friday, July 21st

2:46PM

Attempting to decompress from all the day's chaos so far. I laid down on the bed for about an hour, not for a nap, but to just relax and try to calm my mind a bit. Now I'm stretched out on the couch and starting to write in my journal, in an attempt to calm myself further.

I've got about an hour-and-a-half before it's time to leave again, so I'm shutting off the computer and spending the rest of this time doing nothing but working at being mindful and serene.

I will recapture this day from the chaos.

4:25PM

Time to get through security this morning? More than an hour. Time to get through this afternoon? Five minutes. Grr…

9:25PM

I made it! I was beginning to think this trip was cursed. Shortly after takeoff my iPod froze up and could not be rebooted. It froze up playing a video, so it drained the battery in no time, allowing it to shut itself down and cure the lockup. So now it sits on the desk at the hotel recharging. Thankfully I still had my DS to keep me entertained.

But things got better from there. At one point the plane skated across this razor-thin layer of clouds, and it was beautiful enough to bring me some peace. Further serenity was provided by watching the sun set behind the Rocky Mountains.

Also, my flight landed a few minutes early and I was able to catch an earlier shuttle to Fort Collins, getting me here a full hour sooner than I'd planned (though still about nine hours later than I was supposed to be here.)

Still decompressing and de-stressing, but I'm feeling much more relaxed now. Mmm…
