Well, the rumors were true. Apple announced the new iPods today, and they now incorporate video support. A nice, large 2.5" 320×240 color display, and it supports MPEG-4 or H.264 video. Would have been nice to support standard QuickTime movies or other formats, but I don't see myself using the video playback much anyway.
Sadly, they didn't gain any storage size this time around, still 30GB and 60GB. Still, 60GB is twice what my dead 30GB model held, and a whole lot more than the puny 5GB model I'm stuck using now. I was really pulling for an 80GB model, but it appears that's not in the cards just yet.
Oh yeah, and they come in black now. Way sexier than the white models now, IMO. I'll certainly be buying a 60GB model shortly after they hit stores, and will definitely opt for the black model. Yummy.
iTunes 6 & the iTunes Music Store now also supports buying music videos and, through an agreement with only ABC so far, television shows. I'll be buying as much video content from iTMS as I did music content: zero. I'll rip or DL what I want and enjoy the freedom of a DRM-less existence.
They announced a new iMac and some other consumer-level software too, but I really couldn't give a shit so I paid no attention.
